Representing farmers for generations, the PEI Potato Board has a longstanding history representing Prince Edward Island potato growers. The PEI Potato Board is producer-controlled and comprised of directors from across the province representing the three sectors of the potato industry, including seed, table, and processing. As these directors are active potato growers, their passion and commitment to the industry is evident. The PEI Potato Board represents PEI potato growers, working together, to ensure long-term profitability and sustainability through marketing, advocacy, negotiations, and activities to support quality potato production.
The Opportunity
Accountable to the General Manager, the Director of Stakeholder Relations is a senior level position responsible for advocating for programs, policies and regulations that support the viable growth of the industry. The Director of Stakeholder Relations supports the development and maintenance of strategic relationships with growers and industry stakeholders as well as officials at the federal and provincial government levels and leads communications between growers and industry stakeholders.

As an ideal candidate, your passion for the potato industry and agriculture industry, as a whole, will be evident. Demonstrating a connection to the industry through previous experience, you will be a strategic leader with exceptional communication skills and proven relationship building ability. You will possess a strong knowledge and understanding of the political and policy climate and the relevant stakeholders to the PEI Potato Board. With excellent organization and time management skills, combined with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in your work, you will demonstrate an ability to lead strategic initiatives and advance advocacy for the organization.
As part of a collaborative and highly engaged team, the ideal candidate will play a key leadership role in advancing the interests of PEI potato growers, building, and enhancing key stakeholder relationships and representing the PEI Potato Board across the industry. You will be a confident individual who is able to navigate industry challenges that arise, demonstrates flexibility and is able effectively problem-solve matters while maintaining effective and productive working relationships. A post-secondary degree in a related field, combined with experience in communications, policy, stakeholder relations and/or member-based organization activities is required.
