The Canadian Police Knowledge Network (CPKN) is a national network of police services, training academies, sector associations, and other related organizations that work to strengthen and support the policy community by leveraging collective knowledge, experience, and best practices.   CPKN enhances access to innovative and engaging learning by offering over 140 online courses to police and public safety agencies across Canada. As a not-for-profit, the CPKN’s mission is to support the development of police professionals through innovative learning solutions that meet the evolving needs of Canadian and First Nations policing.

The Opportunity

As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Learning Innovation is a visionary systems thinker with strong leadership abilities and a strong foundation in organizational and systems development.  This full-time position will be involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of a Learning Innovation Strategy that underpins the success of all we do at the CPKN. The Director of Learning Innovation is responsible for:

• Participating as a member of a cohesive, highly productive senior management team, embracing the business strategies of the organization and the principles of the CPKN’s Charter.
• Acting as in-house consultant to develop, implement, assess, and evaluate a Learning Innovation strategy aligned with the CPKN strategic plan.
• Representing CPKN effectively in sectoral activities (NAC, CACP, OACP etc.).
• Acting as a liaison between CPKN and academic institutions on research projects.
• Enhancing credibility through rigorous academic review and oversight of CPKN’s products, and standards and guidelines for courseware development including ensuring valid and reliable evaluations.
• Conducting consulting assignments with client organizations and seek out opportunities to undertake additional research including developing research funding proposals.

You demonstrate a high level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information. Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, you are skilled at balancing multiple priorities, delegating tasks appropriately, and maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced environment. You also excel at building strong internal and external relationships, grounded in active listening and a genuine commitment to client service.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Education with coursework in technology-based learning (an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered).
• Extensive knowledge and experience in the use of innovative learning strategies and relevant tools.
• Experience and training in instructional design and implementation.
• Broad experience in curriculum development across a variety of curricular areas.
• Bilingualism is considered an asset.
• The successful candidate must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 upon hire, subject to Human Rights Legislation.
