The Canadian Police Knowledge Network (CPKN) is a national network of police services, training academies, sector associations, and other related organizations that work to strengthen and support the policy community by leveraging collective knowledge, experience, and best practices. CPKN enhances access to innovative and engaging learning by offering over 140 online courses to police and public safety agencies across Canada. As a not-for-profit, the CPKN’s mission is to support the development of police professionals through innovative learning solutions that meet the evolving needs of Canadian and First Nations policing.
The Opportunity
As a member of the senior management team, the Director of IM/IT is a visionary systems thinker with strong leadership abilities and a strong foundation in enterprise IM and IT. This full-time position will be involved in the strategic planning, implementation and evaluation of all technology and data strategies related to the success and growth of the organization. The Director of IM/IT is responsible for assuring CPKN is using its technical and data assets in the most effective, efficient, and secure way. The Director of IM/IT is responsible for:
Participating as a member of a cohesive, highly productive senior management team, embracing the business strategies of the organization and the principles of the CPKN’s Charter.
The cyber security of the totality of CPKN’s technical infrastructure and assets.
The full lifecycle of all internal and client facing IT assets, systems, and solutions.
Refining and implementing a technology plan mapping the future evolution of CPKN’s technical environment to its business needs.
Contributing to business intelligence within the organization to enhance decision making.
Providing a full range of technical support to CPKN Staff through the IT team members.
Preparing and controlling of operational budget and recruiting an engaged and highly qualified staff.
Participating in CPKN Board meetings and CPKN National Advisory Committee, as required.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of IT system design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance, paired with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both written and verbal contexts. You excel at building and leading teams, demonstrating sound judgment in delegation, prioritization, and managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously. With a natural focus on client service, you foster meaningful internal and external relationships through attentive listening, collaboration, and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Administration (an equivalent combination of education and work experience could be considered).
5+ years as an IT Director (or 5+ years as IT Manager, working under an IT Director).
Experience with both Microsoft and Linux based technologies.
Bilingualism is considered an asset.
The successful candidate must provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 upon hire, subject to Human Rights Legislation.
